Dad was a constant giver. Born in Vietnam to Chinese-Cambodian parents, he and his family struggled to find a better life during the Vietnam War. He eventually found his way over to Ann Arbor, Michigan, and worked hard to turn his whole life around. Knowing that his life had hardships, Dad always wanted to brighten someone's day, even if it was with sudden, unexpected acts of kindness: He helped strangers find what they needed at the store, hatched abandoned robin eggs he found one day, and got a group of people to push a neighbor's car out of the heavy snow.
His constant, unpredictable acts of giving was what inspired the rest of his family and even people that he helped along the way to make someone's day better. But these things are only a part of who he is. Teaching his children valuable life lessons, talking and getting to know the elderly, exploring the great outdoors, and finding new and interesting technology are some of his many outlets.
